Gl_dynamic :

1 will enable dynamic lightning, dynamic lighting will lightenup the ground/wall when you shoot a rocket for instance. Disabling this will give you a speed increase of +- 1 fps.

GL_picmip :

The higher the value the blurrier the textures of the world will get, this will result in a better performance on 3dfx-cards with 4mb (on 6mb cards it's useless)

M_filter :

Will smoothen out your mouse movements (interpolates mouse movement).

Gl_ztrick :

This will prevent clearing the z-buffer and give you a little fps increase +- 0.3fps (but then again every increase is useful), the side effect is that in multiplayer setup the models will flash(who cares ?!).

Gl_skymip :

The same as with gl_picmip only this refers to the sky-textures.

Gl_flashblend :

1 will make a glowing ball of light around the projectiles fired

Gl_polyblend :

0 will eradicate the irritating blue haze when you get the quad , under water will seem as like walking out of the water.

Gl_playermip :

The same as with gl_picmip only this refers to the player textures.

Gl_saturate lighting :

And then there was light...(no shadows,but one bright world)

Gl_texturemode :

With this you can set the picture quality of the textures from Glquake2 to software quake2.

GL_TEXTUREMODE GL_NEAREST (looks almost like dos quake)

Freelook :

If you move your mouse forward you will look up/down.

Notarget :

You can walk through the levels and the monsters won't pay attention to you.

M_pitch :

Adjust with this the speed of your forward mouse movement, the higher the faster.

M_yaw :

Adjust with this the speed of your horizontal mouse movement, the higher the faster.

Cl_maxfps :

With this you can limit your fps(frames per second), for instance you are playing with a friend : he has a p2-300mhz , you have a p133.Now you can limit the fps of a your friend so its equal fps for everybody.

Scr_showturtle :

When you have very low fps a turtle icon will appear in your screen.

Set crosshair :

1 will enable a white aiming cross

2 will enable an aiming sniper dot

3 will enable an aiming angle

Scr_conspeed :

Do you think the console is coming way to slow down ?, adjust the setting to a higher value

Sw_waterwarp :

If you think that the warping effect of being under water is annoying,set this to 0(3dfx users don't have to).

Field of vision :

A higher setting will give you a wider view(difficult aiming), lower will zoom in your view.

Allowdownload :

1 will enable downloading of models and maps if you don't have them.

Mouse sensitivity :

Uses m_pitch an m_yaw simultaneously to adjust the speed of mouse movement.

Make quake2 autoexec :

When you press this, it will give you a screen were you can review your settings,if you agree with them you can save them there accordingly.
